About this site

This project was born from a profound need to gather the words I have written over the past seven years. A need to bring them together in a space that reflects my passions, my interests, the issues I stand for, and the causes I believe in.

Arance e Fucili, the Italian translation of Oranges and Rifles, tells a story of existence, a story of resistance. It encapsulates the narratives that this space seeks to give voice to. In Arabic, a language I have studied and grown deeply in love with, these two words bear a curious resemblance. Orange: برتقالة, burtuqāla. Rifle: بندقية, bunduqiyya. Oranges, a fruit Palestinians use as a symbol of identity and a connection to their land. A symbol of Existence. Rifles, a symbol of the Palestinian struggle and the ongoing fight for freedom. A symbol of Resistance.

Palestinian literature. Arabic literature. Two worlds that rarely take the spotlight, yet tell the story of one of the most hidden and suppressed forms of Resistance: the cultural one. This is why this space exists. To gather voices, reflections, and testimonies from the Arab world, which I hope to amplify through my writing. Posts and articles will be published in both English and Italian, my mother language. Whenever a new piece is released, both versions will be available. At times, the English translation may follow later, and will be published in due course.

If you subscribe today, you'll get full access to the website as well as email newsletters about new content when it's available. Your subscription makes this site possible, and allows Arance e Fucili to continue to exist. Thank you!
